Whether you're relocating, retiring or adding to your real estate portfolio, look to John Chute & Steve Hecht to be your Bodega Bay guides. As top producers on Coast and nearly 40 years experience between us, we have the knowledge, drive and passion to research, find and negotiate the precise home you've been looking for. If a peaceful environment and the pursuit of outdoor activities are priorities for you, you'll find that homes in the Bodega Bay area real estate market have a lot to offer.

Bodega Bay

From the 1500's when Sir Francis Drake stopped to refit and re-supply his ship near Bodega Bay, the area along the Sonoma Coast has been destined for greatness. The natural beauty of Sonoma County real estate is continually admired.

It was just those features that attracted Alfred Hitchcock to the area to film his timeless classic "The Birds." The landscape and breathtaking scenery still just as stunning as it was then. Take a drive up Bay Hill Road and you can view almost the exact scenery Tippi Hedren gazed at in her famous driving scene in "The Birds."

A slower pace and the stunning vistas are only two reasons so many fall in love with this area and its ocean front homes for sale. Northern California offers a wealth of advantages to families as well as retirees and those seeking second homes.

Located in southwest Sonoma County and just 1.5 hours from San Francisco, Bodega Bay is the gateway to the mostly undeveloped Sonoma Coast beaches and coastal hills that provide some amazing hiking, canoeing, surfing and golf. Several small communities make up the area: Bodega Harbour, the Village, the Marina, Salmon Creek, Gleason Beach, Carmet and Sereno del Mar.

Although it is definitely rural in character, Bodega Bay (population 1,423) is on the western edge of steadily growing Sonoma County with a population of nearly 500,000. And we're within 30 minutes of Sonoma County population centers like Sebastopol, Santa Rosa and Petaluma where you'll find access to all of life's necessary amenities - like art centers, shopping, hospitals and our own airport. Plus, San Francisco and Oakland international airports are less than 80 miles south. Of course, there is also easy access to the Russian River Valley wine region where world-class Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel producers casually await your visit.

Bodega Harbour
Positioned around the beautiful
Links at Bodega Harbour golf course (designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.), the Harbour boasts 725 ocean view properties, access to the 2.5 mile Doran Beach State Park, tennis courts, heated pool and a clubhouse with newly redesigned Bluewater Bistro & Bar. You'll find custom-built homes ranging from one-bedroom retreats to 4000+ square foot estates - each offering their own perspective on the vast Paciifc Ocean just outside your door.

Dillon Beach
Just a few miles south of Bodega Bay is the North Marin coastal hide-a-way of Dillon Beach. With less than 400 residents, this beach community brings you the opportunity to truly get away from it all while being close enough to civilization that you'll never miss it. The village is generally made up of smaller homes and bungalows
with easy beach access. Oceana Marin brings you larger, more modern homes with panoramic views and spacious lots. You'll also find the Dillon Beach Resort with its general store and cafe, as well as the world-famous Lawson Landing campground.

Timber Cove
Located about 45 minutes north of Bodega Bay and two hours from San Francisco, Timber Cove offers a rugged coastline covered in forests of redwoods and pines. The 152-unit subdivision averages about 2 acres per parcel and has been slowly developing since the 1970's - and there are plenty of relatively inexpensive lots remaining. You'll find the
Timber Cove Inn and its famous totem pole out on the point.

Jenner by the Sea
Jenner is set along the Pacific coastline. The transition to the coastal environment begins around Duncan's Mills and completes at the river's last bend before flowing into the ocean. It offers fine river and ocean view dining (see River's End), great vacation rentals, romantic lodging and unique gift shops. Jenner is about 12 miles north of Bodega Bay and a short drive from spectacular cliffs and accessible beaches including Goat Rock State Park.

Bodega
The shared home of Alfred Hitchcock's
The Birds, historic Bodega lies 5 miles southeast of Bodega Bay and was the home of the west coast's first lumber mill. Now, you'll find St. Teresa of Avila church (1859), Watson School, a general store, Casino pub, several small shops and the local hangout/coffee shop Brew. And don't miss a great example of hometown festivals when Bodega's Big Event takes place every August.

Valley Ford
Valley Ford is one of those towns that you might miss if you blink as you drive through. But make it a point to stop at one of the several great shops and restaurants. The
Valley Ford Hotel (1864) headlines the town with it's Rocker Oysterfeller's Kitchen + Saloon, while West County Design will surprise you with amazing designs in wood, glass, concrete and more. The world-famous Dinucci's Italian Restaurant lies at the north end of town, just across the highway from the rustic Valley Ford market and Estero Cafe.

Tomales
Tomales was founded way back in the 1850's and became an important stop on the North Pacific Coast Railroad. By 1877 the
William Tell House was founded and became the center of town - as it remains today. Located at the north end of Marin and just 75 minutes from San Francisco, the historic town of Tomales provides easy access to Point Reyes, Marshall and all other small towns along Tomales Bay. With just over 200 people, Tomales has a true feel of community with it's elementary school, high school, community center and park bringing residents together on a regular basis.
